"Amillenialism" - A Sermon Series by Pastor Harold Chase

Once again, I have another cool sermon series on the subject of amillenialism, this time from Pastor Harold "Skip" Chase of Minnesota Valley Reformed Baptist Church. I've been listening to Pastor Chase for quite some time, and in particular his sermon series chroncling his church's adoption of Reformation theology was quite helpful in my own personal journey to the doctrines of grace. In this sermon series, Pastor Skip does a masterful job handling such issues as:

  • Who is the Man of Sin?
  • What should we make of the idea of the imminence of Christ's return?
  • What exactly is the Seventy Weeks of Daniel all about?
  • And a lot more...

You can download the series here or listen to the first sermon in the series below:

The Book of Romans - A Series by Dr. Alan Cairns

Media_httpwwwgrsonlin_ubrxz

I'm very excited to present the expository ministry of Dr. Alan Cairns, Minister Emeritus of Faith Free Presbyterian Church, Greenville, South Carolina, USA on the Book of Romans. Dr. Cairns, as you'll gather from listening, isn't your average Reformed preacher - I personally don't think he's your average preacher period. Incredibly excitable yet scholarly in his manner, I have to say this has one of my favourite series on the Epistle to the Romans.

For Your Library: Systematic Theology by Louis Berkhof

Media_httpwwwcalvinse_apuul

Taking a break from recommending sermons and lectures to recommend some books for your library. In all my theological reading, no single book has been more referenced than Dr. Louis Berkhof's Systematic Theology. First published in 1932, this mainstay of Reformed theology continues to educate and edify thinking Christians.

Until fairly recent, you could only get the Banner of Truth edition which had just the systematics text, which is still available from Banner of Truth here. I have that edition - albeit in a very trendy black and gold dust jacket (as does my little sis in Christ, Mayowa - who I hope is reading this). However, in 1996, Eerdmans brought out what is now known as the New Combined Edition - having Dr. Berkhof's introduction to systematic theology as well as the full systematics text in one volume, along with a new preface by Dr. Richard A. Muller of Calvin Theological Seminary. You can get that from Christianbook.com here.

I can't recommend this work highly enough as a foundation text for your library. I'll recommend one or two more systematics in my next post.

The Contrast of the Covenants - A Series of Lectures by Dr. Peter Masters

(I took that pic myself - all the online pics are too small)

It gives me great joy to post some lectures by my own pastor, Dr. Peter Masters. Dr. Masters serves as minister at the Metropolitan Tabernacle Baptist Church here in London and also serves as the principal of London Reformed Baptist Seminary, where I also attend.

In this three-part series of lectures delivered at the seminary, Dr. Masters gives an overview of the Doctrine of the Covenant from a Reformed Baptist perspective. I've listened to this series many times and have enjoyed the content.

You can download the three lectures at the following links or for the nominal fee of £2 you can purchase them from Tabernacle Bookshop here:

"The Millenium" - A Sermon Series by Pastor Chris Hand

Media_httpwwwcrichbap_wixgb

Revelation 20:1-5. Just five verses - and yet so much ink has been spilled and so many sermons have been preached on those verses. Questions arise like:

  • What is the Millennium?
  • Will there a restored earthly kingdom for 1000 years?
  • How do we interpret these verses?
  • What do we make of dispensationalism?

Pastor Chris Hand, of Crich Baptist Church, Derbyshire, UK, presents some cogent, Biblical answers in his sermon series "The Millennium". This series was influential in helping me move from a dispensational to Reformed amillenial position and I trust it will help you as it did me :)

Welcome to the Scrapbook!!!

So I had a bright idea - create a little site where I can post all kinds of relevant Bible study material from articles to videos to MP3s (oh and a lot of links to actual books). I remembered I'd used Posterous before and it worked like a charm for the short time I did, so here it is...
